Expressions of Interest Open – Help Shape the Next Phase of United Blind Leaders

Dear supporters,

We’re writing to share an important update as United Blind Leaders continues to grow and strengthen as a blindness-led, international movement.

Following a recent review of our Board skills matrix, United Blind Leaders has opened Expressions of Interest for two co-opted Board Director positions, with appointments running through to the 2026 Annual General Meeting.

These co-options are about ensuring our Board has the right mix of skills, experience and lived-experience leadership to support the next phase of UBL’s development, sustainability and influence — both in Australia and internationally.

We are seeking Expressions of Interest from blind or vision-impaired leaders with experience in areas such as governance, finance and risk, legal or regulatory matters, fundraising or philanthropy, strategic partnerships, organisational growth, or media and public influence. Strong alignment with UBL’s purpose, values and commitment to lived-experience leadership is essential.

As an international movement, we warmly welcome Expressions of Interest from blind or vision-impaired leaders living outside Australia, provided they are able to participate effectively in online governance activities.

For those interested in the current makeup of the Board, United Blind Leaders is led by a committed group of blind leaders:

John Simpson – Chair
Pam MacNeill – Deputy Chair
Emma Bennison – Company Secretary and Treasurer
Julee-anne Bell – Minutes Secretary
Graeme Innes – Director
Jane Britt – Director
Ben Clare – Co-opted Director

If you or someone in your network might be interested, we encourage you to read the full Expression of Interest and consider applying, or to share it with others who may be a good fit.

Expressions of Interest close on 20 February.

As always, thank you for standing with us and for backing the principle that blind people must not only be consulted, but trusted to lead, govern and shape the systems that affect our lives.

With appreciation,

United Blind Leaders LTD
